Frequently Asked Questions

Based on research, maximum brain development happens between the ages of 0–6 years. The four programs offered at our preschool are PlayGroup, Nursery, Junior KG, and Senior KG. PlayGroup starts when your child is two years old and will set the right foundation for your child's future.

Consider factors such as the school's philosophy, curriculum, teacher qualifications, safety measures, cleanliness, facilities, location, and parent involvement opportunities. Visiting the school to observe classes and meet with staff is also helpful.

Our Preschools provide a structured environment where children can develop social skills, learn to share and cooperate, build early literacy and numeracy skills, and foster independence and confidence.

Kindergarten is important because it provides a holistic foundation that supports a child's overall development socially, emotionally, academically, and physically setting the stage for lifelong learning and success. At The Yellow Star centers, we have a structured schedule that includes time for learning activities. We focus on literacy, numeracy, and scientific thinking through problem-solving, creative thinking, and constructive team-building activities. We focus on gross motor and fine motor through play and activities for physical development. We have free play, circle time, music and movement, and activities for socio-emotional development.

You can prepare your child by establishing routines, practicing basic self-help skills (such as using the restroom independently and putting on/taking off shoes and jackets), and encouraging positive social interactions with children.

At The Yellow Star, English is used mostly for instruction and communication. However, throughout the initial phases of the program, the communication will be done in the regional language/mother tongue for Playgroup and Nursery until the child starts to understand English.

The teacher-to-student ratio is important for ensuring individualized attention and supervision. We keep our batch sizes small to maintain a teacher-to-student ratio. The average ratio would be 1:10 (in PlayGroup & Nursery) and 1:15 (in Kindergarten). The ratio may be different in each center.
